I don’t normally go on vacation expecting to find the next best wedding venue, but sometimes I get lucky.
I recently took a weeklong trip to Washington State with my fiancé and his family. It was supposed to be a fun getaway, which I of course packed full of activities—including hiking in two different national parks and exploring the shops of downtown Seattle. But the real highlight was our one-night excursion to Olympic National Park and the most magical campground I’ve ever seen.
Located directly across the highway from the park entrance to the Sol Duc area of Olympic National Park, Sol Duc Retreat is a true hidden gem. As you take the steep drive into camp, you’re greeted by fairy lights, embraced by the forest canopy, and, if you look closely, you may even spot some of the hidden mushroom and gnome friends scattered throughout the property.
After finding our campsite, we just had to explore the hidden walking trails throughout the grounds. That’s what led us to the part I still can’t stop daydreaming about: the most perfect woodland wedding chapel, complete with carved wooden benches, a beautiful pergola altar, and an aisle illuminated by fairy lights.
The surrounding forest creates the dreamiest backdrop and an incredibly intimate setting for a wedding. And even though you’re tucked away in the middle of the forest, you don’t have to sacrifice the amenities of a traditional venue. Just across from the ceremony space, you’ll find full-service restrooms and outdoor kitchen spaces.
And for your reception? Imagine enjoying a dinner made with farm-fresh foods alongside your closest friends and family, then sharing your first dance under the stars while a live band plays your favorite song.
If the setting alone isn’t enough to convince you, their wedding packages also include one- to three-night stays for you and up to nearly 40 guests, including a special newlywed suite with amenities like sauna access. Sol Duc Retreat truly feels like a dream location for anyone looking for a nature-first destination wedding venue.
Just minutes away from the crystal-blue waters of Crescent Lake, the moss-covered trails of the Ancient Forest, and Sol Duc Falls—and only a few hours from the Pacific Coast—Sol Duc Retreat is the perfect place to not only get married, but to spend your entire wedding weekend (or even week!) exploring some of the most beautiful places the Pacific Northwest has to offer.
And honestly? I think I may have just found one of my new favorite places to daydream about weddings.
